Money, Start a blog

Why it’s not too late to start a blog

Have you ever thought about starting a blog? Maybe you have, but you feel like there are so many blogs out there. Why would the world need yours? I’ll tell you why!

Why it's not too late to start a blog

It’s fun!

My main reason for blogging is because I love to do it. I think the most successful bloggers are the ones who actually love to write. It is so much fun to write posts, do research and connect with your readers. It’s important to like writing when you want to start a blog. Try to write a few posts before committing to anything and find out if you like to do this.

It’ll help you

One of the things I love most about blogging is the research you do for it. You can’t just write an article about something you heard and call it a blog. You will need regular content and to make sure you stay up to date, you need to do research. My favourite ways to do research is:

  • Read other blogs. Don’t steal their posts though. It’s a lot of fun to read other peoples blogs and get inspired, but don’t copy their entire post. You can write about the same topics, but it’s important that your posts are yours, and yours only.
  • Pinterest. My all time favourite app. Pinterest has all the amazing content creators combined in an amazing app. You can find amazing quotes that will inspire your journey and it is a great way to connect with people in the same niche as you are in.
If you don’t follow me on Pinterest yet, you are more than welcome to do so! Click here to find me.
  • Join a Facebook group. Joining a Facebook group in the same niche is also a fun way to do research. I am currently a member of a minimalist group and reading all the posts give me a great idea of what people are struggling with and what they want to read more about. A great way to engage with your readers!
Do you follow my page on Facebook? I share a lot of great content from other groups as well! Click here to find me.

So why does all the research help you, you might think? Well, it will expand your knowledge even more. You learn more about something you are already interested in.

When you are a stay-at-home mom, you have the extra benefit of staying in touch with other people. You can make great friends through the internet (I met some amazing people through Instagram for example). And by starting a blog about your interests, you will find friends who are interested in the same thing as you. Bonus!

Your view matters

One of the things that often came to my mind when I thought about starting a blog (which was for over two years before actually starting) is;

Why would people want to read my blog? There are plenty of blogs out there.

And I was right. There are plenty of blogs out there that cover the same topics as I do. But I found out that in my immediate circle, not many people had heard of minimalism or simplifying their life. And I wanted to share the thought behind it. I kept telling people my motivation and how we implemented minimalism into our lives. And then it occurred to me. If I would just start the blog I have been wanting to start for years, I could tell all those people at the same time. And I would have an archive for them to look back to whenever they wanted. Another plus for me was to find people who did understand me i.e. connecting with other bloggers.

So whether you plan to have a blog for just your mom and dad, or want to start one for the entire world (hypothetically, but a girl can dream!) I think you should just go for it!

It’s not too late to start a blog! The blogging world needs you!

If you don’t know where to start, and what to do. Be sure to check back later (You can find out about new posts when you follow one of my social media accounts). I will post a blog soon about how and where to start a blog. It’s not hard!

As always, I’d love to hear from you. My favourite part about blogging is reading the comments on my posts or social media accounts and connecting with you!
